Osteoporosis, a condition where the bones thin and loose strength which increases the risk of bone fracture, has been recognized as a significant health problem. This most commonly occurs during menopause; however certain medical conditions and the use of some medications can increase the risk of having osteoporosis.

Some women unfortunately think that taking calcium will prevent osteoporosis; however calcium alone will not prevent this disease.
